  • For residential electricity connections only. Shops, factories and institutions are not covered.
  • The scheme's aim is to give participating households up to 300 free units a month through their own generation and net metering.
  • Paid as a direct bank transfer after the DISCOM inspection and net-meter installation — not deducted from the price.
  • Requires ALMM-approved panels and inverters fitted by a vendor registered on the national portal. Apex Solar is registered.

One honest caveat

Both schemes are reimbursement-based. You pay the full system cost first and the subsidy is credited afterwards — usually thirty to forty-five days after the DISCOM inspection and net-meter installation. Anyone promising an instant discount "adjusted against subsidy" is not describing the actual scheme.

Two subsidies stack. The central PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana pays ₹30,000 for a 1 kW system, ₹60,000 for 2 kW and ₹78,000 for 3 kW or larger. The Bihar Government adds a top-up of up to ₹20,000 on top of that, taking a 3 kW system to roughly ₹98,000 in total. Apex Solar is a registered vendor and files both applications for you.

A quality 3 kW on-grid system typically costs around ₹1.8–2.1 lakh before subsidy, depending on the panel and inverter brands you choose. After the ₹98,000 of subsidy, the net cost comes down to roughly ₹0.9–1.2 lakh. Call 9229616661 for an exact quote after a free site survey.

An on-grid system sized correctly against your consumption usually brings the bill down to the fixed charges alone — often a 90–95% reduction. Each kilowatt generates roughly 120–150 units a month in Bihar conditions.

Panels carry a 25-year performance warranty and typically keep working well beyond it at slightly reduced output. Inverters generally run ten to fifteen years and are the one component you should expect to replace once in the system’s life.

Only if you want power during outages. A plain on-grid system is cheaper and saves more money, but it shuts down during a cut by design. If backup matters to you, a hybrid system with a battery gives you both savings and backup.

About 80 square feet of completely shadow-free roof per kilowatt — so roughly 240 square feet for a 3 kW system. Water tanks, parapet walls and neighbouring buildings all cast shadows we account for during the survey.
